2004-07-01 - New Product : Tiny Embedded Web Server

The new eDevice solution makes it possible to add a remotely accessible website to any machine or device including equipment that was not previously connected.

Bordeaux, France - July 1st, 2004 -

eDevice (www.edevice.com), a leader in embedded Internet technology, today announced a new product Embedded Web Server. Thanks to the latest innovation from the Bordeaux based company, it will now be possible to remotely administer and control any equipment (industrial controllers, electric meters, medical devices, display panels … ) using a standard Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla …).

The procedure is simple. With the eDevice embedded web server you can create a website dedicated to the machine you wish to administer. You will then be able to consult this site over the Internet and gather data or collect information at any time and from any PC or other Internet browsing devices like a PDA for example.

The embedded web server directly connects the machine directly to the Internet, with no need for a PC, through one of the following networks: LAN/Ethernet, PSTN/POTS (up to V90), GSM/GPRS or short range RF.

Application Example: with the embedded web server you can remotely administer one or several Vending Machines from anywhere over the Internet. It would also be possible to monitor the stock by browsing a web page dedicated to consumption statistics or even to change the pricing of certain items by submitting new figures on a web page dedicated to pricing.

Price & availability

This complete solution offered by eDevice, is easy to use and install, and involves only minimal costs. An evaluation kit for PSTN is available from eDevice for 250 USD and an eDmod for PSTN network will only cost 60 USD (50 euros) for an order of at least 100 units.

The eDevice embedded web server solution is immediately available with the standard eDevice evaluation kits for PSTN, LAN, GSM/GPRS, or short range RF networks.

About eDevice, www.edevice.com

eDevice was founded in 1999 near Bordeaux, France. With its SmartStack™ technology, eDevice revolutionizes the market of lightweight Internet modules (non-PC). SmartStack™ allows you to connect any machine to the Internet. The eDevice technology combines network layers management (modem, MAC…), standard Internet Protocols and Internet applications (mail client, FTP client…) allowing a very basic micro controller to exchange data over the Internet.

The eDevice products offer a complete range of Internet connectivity solutions that take up little space at a low cost and covers every existing protocol required to transfer data on TCP/IP networks. eDevice’s offer stands out from the ‘crowd’ thanks to its simplicity of implementation and the use of standard components.

The eDmod and eDbox are Plug&Play communication modules and boxes available for PSTN, Ethernet and GSM/GPRS network connections. eDsoft is the eDevice software a customer may load into its own hardware design.

More than 100,000 devices are currently connected on the Internet thanks to eDevice technology.
